Hubris, Humility, Hustle

by bxrtley

A dear friend of mine asked me a few weeks ago what I wanted out of this year. “I want to tap into my 20s hubris, tempered with my 30s humility and tried by my ten year old hustle.” It rolled right off my tongue, as she barely made it to the inquisitive inflection of her last word. It was a question I mulled over for months in a palatable stew of succinct poetic prose. Oh, and by hustle I mean the level of child-like faith and hope that produces an adolescent persistence that’s a joy to witness.
