About People Pleasers

by bxrtley

I’m a people pleaser. My skill for assessment, feedback and critical thinking easily turns into an egomaniacal obsession. I have this ideal self-image of the Man’s Man and use it as my barometer for validation. But this self-image isn’t based on any values. It’s a misguided aspiration based on the need for acceptance, affirmation and praise. That’s why defining a set of values was important for me. Without it, praise and criticism would squelch my true identity. People Pleasers, repeat after me: “I am completely independent of the good and bad opinions of others.”
