History’s Like a Spiral – Sorry, Apple

by bxrtley

History does repeat itself. But the events are never identical. So, instead of a circle, these historical thematic repetitions are more like a spiral seen from an aerial viewpoint. A circle has no depth. A spiral, however, denotes progressive or degenerative motion. History revolves, evolves and devolves around a continuous curve that is winding around a central point (time, perhaps?) or theme.  If we look a bit closer, something that’s been labeled “different” or “innovative” might just be a part of this historic cyclical continuum that will one day unmask itself as something that was already done. Sorry, Apple.
